Organizations We Support
The Delaware Music Educators Association, a body of professional music educators, exists to improve music curricula and instruction for students in our public, private, parochial and charter schools and to foster professional growth of all music educators in Delaware. The Association advocates the National Standards as promoted by the NAfME and accepted by the U.S. Department of Education for school music programs and the Delaware Standards for Music as developed by the Visual and Performing Arts Frameworks Commission. The DMEA provides professional development for the members of the organization as well as other music educators in Delaware. The DMEA also organizes the All-State programs in Delaware for those students who are involved in their school music programs. Current DMEA sponsored All-State organizations include: Orchestra, Jazz Band, Junior Band (7 - 9), Senior Band (10 - 12), Junior Chorus (7 - 8), Senior Chorus (9 - 12) and Women's Choir (9 - 12).
The first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the annual JUNE JAM is "Delaware’ Best Outdoor Concert". And why not? Over the past several years headliners have included national acts the likes of "Kansas", "Moly Hatchet", " 38 Special", "Cheap Trick", "Dave Mason", and "The Fabulous Thunderbirds". Combine the national acts with the best of the East Coast’s touring bands, a spotlight for favorite local musicians, fun and games for children, vendors to satisfy almost any need and a shady spot under a tree to enjoy the day for 1000-plus members and their guests, and you have it JUNE JAM "Delaware’s Best Outdoor Concert!"
A Code Purple is defined as whenever the night-time temperature is expected to fall below 32 degrees. A Code Purple Winter Sanctuary is not a traditional shelter, its an emergency shelter to aid the homeless in the cold winter times. We have been able to open and continue to grow across Kent and Susssex Counties. We have worked under the direction of Levy Court Commissioner Allan Angel, Rebecca Manahan Martin, Diane Kaskeski, Christina O'Connor and the Directors of Dover Interfaith Mission. We have been able to grow due to the support of this wonderful community that we live in. We our able to offer a toll free number which is available 24/7- to be used as guidance to when a Code Purple is in Effect and where Sanctuaries are open. We continue to work to provide a safe warm haven for those in need. CALL 1-800-733-6816.
